Anthony’s first career was the army but, not having been promoted
to the rank of General, resigned his commission at the age of twenty-five and
entered the licensed leisure and food sector. It was here that an interest in
wine developed into a passion.
The following twenty-five years were varied but never dull and
the subject of wine, spirits and food was a constant theme. Periods as
licensee, restaurateur, general manager of a top-flight racecourse, and senior
positions at Mars, Courage and Brent Walker have given Anthony an in-depth
knowledge of the drinks industry at all levels upon which he draws for
illustrations in his entertaining courses and presentations.
His interactive presentation style is light and amusing. He
presents wine knowledge and tastings in a manner that excludes the pomposity
that too often puts potential oenophiles off the subject for life.
AS&A was founded in 1990 and is ISO 9001 registered.
It offers a wide spectrum of courses aimed at the licensed
retail. The administrative centre is in the village of Over, just outside
Cambridge and Anthony runs a regular programme of courses from centres in
Cambridge, Surrey and Merseyside. AS&A was a finalist in the National Training
Awards and has won National Innkeeping Training Awards three times.
Anthony also conducts wine courses for colleges of further
education and the English Tourist Board. Courses are presented anywhere
they may be required.
All talks and courses are delivered through AS&A’s lively,
animated PowerPoint presentations and Anthony carries the necessary laptop and
projector with him. |
