John Lamond

John D. Lamond (Associate Member)

John LamondA Master of Malt, John is one of the world's leading authorities on Whisky.  The author of “The Malt Whisky File” (now into its seventh edition), “The Whisky Connoisseur’s Companion”, and international magazine articles on the wider subject of “drink”, he lectures on all things vinous and spirituous.

He has created “the world’s first Scotch Whisky evening class”, an eight week course which runs at the Glasgow College of Food Technology and covers production of both malt & grain whiskies, the history and folklore of the industry, its marketing and a fairly irreverent look at where it is going.

John has worked in the drinks industry since 1974 and lectured for the past sixteen years.  His easy and interactive style makes him a popular speaker on the corporate circuit, where he can tailor an event to a specific audience, whether it be as wine education, or simply as a part of an evening’s entertainment.

Fun events are often set with the audience having to guess the value of the wines they are tasting.  True blind tastings, where members of the audience are blindfolded, guessing which colour of wine they are tasting, can be very revealing.
