My wine career began in the
late 1980’s. I’d just finished a geography degree and was wondering what line of
work to pursue, when I attended a course at Pru Leith’s catering school in
London. After my first wine class I was immediately hooked – I knew that I
wanted to work with wine; perhaps I’d open a wine bar? I continued with wine and
catering courses, but after a spell of working in Bordeaux I was also drawn to
vineyard life.
Along the way many other opportunities have opened up and at present I’m
teaching WSET courses, running wine tours, hosting private/corporate wine events
and writing a monthly wine column for Derbyshire Life & Countryside - still no
wine bar, or vineyard, but then who knows what the future holds? |
