Valerie Cowan  

Valerie Cowan Valerie teaches wine appreciation courses and workshops in North London at the Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute, East Finchley. Her relaxed and informal style is ideal for beginners and enthusiasts.

For 25 years Valerie was a Marks & Spencer selector - the last ten years were spent in the wine buying department. In 1998 Valerie left M&S to study for her wine Diploma and to develop other activities. She received her Diploma in 2001, became a member of the Association of Wine Educators and achieved a City & Guilds teacher training certificate in 2002.

Valerie also teaches for other wine schools, writes wine articles for in-house newsletters, conducts tastings for charity events and is a wine judge. She has lectured on cruises too.

Other interests include travel, theatre and keep fit. Valerie is a member of a singing club and paints with the Finchley Art Society. She is also a magistrate. Her professional skills and experience make her a lively and enthusiastic presenter and tutor.
