As you know, Carole Hazlehurst and I have recently taken over the management of the webinar online sessions, following Laura’s excellent initiative at the start of the first lockdown last year.

Looking through the list of topics covered, we have enjoyed learning about so many wine regions from a great cross section of speakers over the last 15 months.

As Educators, we have been able to expand on our own knowledge base and update ourselves on many wine related subjects. It has also been a lovely way for us all to keep in touch from Asia to Scotland, and many places in between.

Members used to complain that their geographical location precluded them from benefitting from their AWE membership as the CPD meetings we ran over the last few years tended to be London-based.

Zoom webinars have certainly enabled us to stay in contact with each other throughout the Covid era. We plan to continue with web based sessions in addition to returning to live events again.

We would really appreciate you taking the time to think about what topics you would like us to offer to the membership. If you have contacts with specific speakers, who would be willing to present to us, then please let Carole and me know.

In addition, if you personally have expertise in specific areas that you would like to share with us, by delivering a session, then please get in touch about that too.

Please help us to keep expanding our knowledge base.

Thank you all,

Vivienne and Carole

P.S We look forward to seeing you on the 14th July for Richard Lane’s session on Bergerac

Look forward to these terrific zoom sessions continuing alongside some in-person events.

As well as remaining connected wherever we are in the world, the recording of these sessions makes them so useful as an educating resource.

    Thanks to everyone involved.

Wanted to have a think of areas of interest before adding to comments.

As mentioned to Vivienne, I would personally be interested in some of the less known and upcoming regions of Spain or the Douro area of Portugal where some of the still wines are excellent.

And finally – although not so mainstream – maybe a CPD on supermarket wines. It could be an interesting overview for educators working with consumers. The Coop for example are working with the Perrin family in the Rhone and Marks and Spencer’s new range is interesting.
