Experience

I was working in the city when my passion for wine blossomed.
A Passion and Hobby turned into a career in 1995 when I became involved in wine marketing and promotional work for various wine producers, plus a spell in retail for Oddbins.  I gained huge experience and knowledge working on the International Wine Challenge in 2000.

Hungry for more, I passed the WSET diploma and gained a merit in Wine Sensory Evaluation at Plumpton College, East Sussex which houses a groundbreaking Wine Research Facility, vines, nursery and more…  It was at Plumpton during their Viticultural Vinification degree course that I realised my passion for the vineyard.  I have been fortunate to travel to many wine regions worldwide to experience Grape to Glass.

Following intensive study, travel and experience as a wine collector, I moved into the business full time.  Over the next few years I worked for Wine Australia in Australia House, Strand, London, the home of the Australia High Commission.  I was P.A. to the Director and also Visits co-ordinator, organising and implementing trips for Supermarket wine buyers and top Journalists.

Now freelance, my focus is wine education and promotion. I have a Wine Club in Oxford where I organise the tasting programme teaching up to 40 members and also inviting guest AWE tutors to teach their own areas of expertise.  In addition I offer tastings for private and corporate groups which  are usually relaxed and informal but never forgetting the Systematic Approach to Tasting in order to gain knowledge and understanding while enjoying wine.  I have organised trips for my Wine Club members and other groups to wineries and regions including England, Galicia, Alsace and Campania.

I judge for the IWSC and IWC and work freelance at Corporate events and International Wine Shows.

My specialist areas are of course  Australian via my many years with Wine Australia and the visits to the regions, but also Spain, Rhône and Alsace in France and  English wineries which are also regularly explored on the ground and in the glass.  Tutored  tastings vary widely from small wine groups to large public events and often include the systematic approach in order to improve tasting skills and knowledge, but always in a friendly, informal and fun way.
