My name is Maggy Smith and I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and run the Edinburgh Wine School, an approved programme provider for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.
I found wine very many years ago while working as a tour guide in General Franco’s Spain. Armed with the language I was able to start my education of wine in the Sherry region. I am an accredited Sherry Educator as well as a certified Spanish wine educator.
My passion is showing people how to get the very best out of a bottle of wine and making that experience one to remember. I have travelled extensively throughout the old and new world of wine and have enjoyed the many characters that I have met along the way. My formula is one of fun and relaxation but in a structured manner to increase the learning outcome without too much effort. The emphasis must always be enjoyment of wine.
I am on the committee of the Scottish Wine Society which meets up once a month in the Edinburgh City Centre. I also run corporate events and WSET courses.
