Experience

Rebecca is an experienced Wine Educator with a passion for sharing her wealth of wine knowledge. She loves inspiring her students who find her approachable, professional and fun to learn with.

Rebecca has 23 years of wine trade experience gained through worldwide travel to wine regions across the Old and New World. She has met many award-winning wine producers and is keen to share their story behind the label. She started her wine career in Bordeaux at Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. She spent 7 years working in global wine tourism for Arblaster & Clarke Wine Tours before becoming a hospitality consultant for the on-trade in the South West of England. She has also worked for a national wine importer and regional wine wholesaler.

In 2011 Rebecca qualified as a Certified Educator for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and has enjoyed teaching these qualifications ever since. Rebecca has also taught informal wine classes when she previously worked for the London Wine Academy. She is currently the wine tutor for the Ashburton Cookery School’s Chef’s Academy and also for the South West Wine School.

Rebecca recently qualified as a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers. She previously worked as the Head Sommelier for Gidleigh Park Hotel with 2* Michelin Chef Michael Wignall where she enjoyed looking after one of the UK’s largest wine cellars and she managed a 52 page wine list with over 800 wines from around the world. It was here that she finely tuned her Food & Wine Pairing skills for the 10 course taster menu.

Since 2005 Rebecca has consulted for a number of hospitality venues across the South West including Bordeaux Quay in Bristol, Demuth’s Restaurant in Bath, Rendezvous Wine Bar in Exeter, The Greedy Goose in Plymouth, Glazebrook House Hotel in South Brent, and Restaurant Twenty-Seven in Kingsbridge. She regularly hosts private and corporate tasting events as well as being the guest speaker at wine dinners.

Rebecca is also a Panel Chair Judge for the International Wine & Spirit Competition + Wine Judge for the International Wine Challenge + Wine GB West Competition Judge. As a Drinks Columnist for Devon Life Magazine, Rebecca has a monthly column which includes wine, beer, cider and soft drinks. And she is a guest speaker at various Food & Wine Festivals – Dartmouth Food Festival, Ashburton Food Festival, South West Festival of Food & Drink, and the Wine Festival Winchester.
