After studying French, Russian and Business, Sue worked in the the corporate world in Belgium and South Africa, while developing her passion for wine. In 1983 she passed her WSET levels 1, 2 and 3 while working at a senior level for L’Oreal for over 30 years in London and Paris. She continued to enjoy wine tasting and participating in masterclasses to update her knowledge. In 2012 she decided to return to her first passion, wine and spirits, and started a new career educating, judging and communicating.
In 2016 Sue passed the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits and now educates for both private and company events, including the Elle a Table Trophies, and accompanies group wine tours in France.
She also judges regularly in all the different regions of France (Rhone, Loire, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Languedoc-Roussillon and Alsace) as well as for Terre de Vins magazine, Leader Price stores, Guide Hachette, Elle a Table, Lyon International, Meilleur Gamay du Monde, Meilleur Cabernet du Monde, Feminalise and the Concours General Agricole.
Sue is also a Judge for the IWC in London and for the Frankfurt International and Berliner Wine Trophies in Germany. This year she will be judging in Switzerland for Mondial des Chasselas and in Portugal for the Portugese Wine Trophy.
Her Spirits experience allows her to judge for the Concours General Agricole as well as Lyon International Spirits.
She makes sure her knowledge of wines and spirits is completely up to date by attending trade tastings, and masterclasses as well as trade fairs.
