Last week in Beaune I had the huge honour of being made a Chevalier du Tastevin during the Chapitre de l’Equinoxe, de la Plume et du Vin at Clos Vougeot.

A recognition of the promotion of Burgundy’s image I do through judging and educating, but also thanks to my two amazing ‘marraines’ Vivienne Franks and Christine Stratemeier of Lucien Jacob.

An evening of amazing food, wines, singing and speeches .. all in the spirit of Jamais en Vin, Toujours en Vin.

Needless to say that along with Vivienne & Malcolm Franks and Sandy Leckie, we used our time wisely and visited the amazing Les Ursulines of Jean-Claude Boisset as well as Lucien Jacob where we saw some beautiful Chambolle Musigny fruit being brought in to the winery.

Alongside some stunning meals at Le Cheval Noir, Garum, L’Air du Temps and La Cuisine, we drank some stunning Rully, St Romain and Mercurey wines.

A perfect weekend – good food, good wine, good company and a great honour.

Lovely to read about and fantastic to be a part of such a great tradition- I still have the pictures of my father receiving his. Out of interest who else has been made one please?
