The Association of Wine Educators have just returned from their first visit to the vineyards of Romania. Our host were the Romanian Wine Growers, who represents several of the leading wine producers in Romania. Judging the positive reports from our members, this will hopefully be the first of many more such visits.

Romania currently has a reputation for producing well made & good value wines, in particular Pinot Noir. Whilst this proved correct, the members discovered a number of excellent producers offering well crafted wines with international and also true Romanian character.

Please check the AWE’s Blog, as there are a number of detailed reports from the Wine Educators. This turned out to be a fascinating visit in terms of the quality and diversity of the wines, but also how Romania is re-inventing itself as an emerging European wine producer, which has several milenia of history.
