As the
third generation of his family involved in the hospitality industry wine has
always played an important part in Richard’s life. His philosophy is simple –
wine is to be enjoyed! His enthusiastic, sometimes irreverent, style of
presentation supports this outlook. Over the years Richard has had the
opportunity to visit many of the world’s wine regions and this has helped him
compile a collection of anecdotes and personal observations which make his
tastings lively events.
His
particular love is fortified wine (especially Madeira, Port and Sherry –
frequently visiting those regions). He is also a regular visitor to Alsace
(ensuring he stops off in Champagne ‘en route’) where he delights in learning
even more about the wines and their distinctive style of food.
Richard’s tastings have been enjoyed by a wide range of groups and societies. He
is also an experienced ‘tour leader’ on visits to vineyards, and is regularly
invited to lecture on matching wine and food. |
